About

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Certified EcoTherapist. I work with children, teens, couples, and adults who are struggling with emotional and/or behavioral issues. I take pride in building close relationships so you can feel safe, understood, and supported in reaching your goals.

I graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with my Masters in Psychology & received my Bachelors in Psychology from UC Santa Cruz. I knew as a late teen that I wanted to be in the field of Psychology. Fascinated with the intricacies and the beauty that humans embody, I have spent the last 13 years learning about the human psyche.

Over the last 10 years I have been putting that knowledge into use through my work with at-risk youth, homeless populations, families, couples, and individuals struggling to feel contentment in their lives. Through my work I have found that the struggle doesn’t define us, the way we perceive it and choose to act upon it does. I view mental health through a holistic lens and believe that our thoughts and feelings are not in isolation from other factors in our life; things are interconnected. Whether it is taking into account sleep hygiene, diet, social relationships, our relationship to the natural world, occupational fulfillment, multi-cultural identities, age, or lifestyle choices— I aim to provide my clients a complete consideration of their life experience.

my approach

I am a charismatic and compassionate human who believes everyone deserves to live a fulfilling and healthy life. You may be thrown with many complexities and challenges and I am here to support you navigate the current path you are on to a brighter and more satisfying life. A range of therapeutic skills and tools will be utilized to match your presenting concerns and goals. I have experienced great success by employing therapeutic interventions rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Humanistic Therapy, Exposure Therapy, Mindfulness, and EcoTherapy. I value multi-cultural differences and also honor and highlight each of the inherent strengths and assets you possess.

EcoTherapy

In addition to traditional modes of therapy, I also offer sessions outdoors in local natural settings drawing on principles of EcoPsychology. A growing body of scientific research along with ancient wisdom points to the understanding that we are connected to the natural world in a profound way. As one reconnects to the Earth it becomes abundantly clear that deep personal healing and restoration is possible. EcoTherapy practices may include walk & talk sessions outdoors, nature meditations, mindfulness exercises, expressive art exercises, horticultural therapy, and other full sensory experiences rooted in the healing properties of nature. I take pride in assessing the comfort level and experience level of each client so they can feel the holistic benefits of ecotherapy practices in an individualized and safe way.

As our lives are growing busier and more screen centric, Ecotherapy offers an opportunity to slow down and open up all of our senses to the beauty which surrounds us.
